Mobile Solution Architect – Atlanta, GA

Posted on: November 22nd, 2011 by jobTopia No Comments

Would you like to work for a Fortune 20 organization in a high-profile Mobile Application Group?!  My client, headquartered in Atlanta, GA is seeking a Solution Architect with Enterprise, iOS experience.

This is a direct-hire opportunity with relocation assistance available.  The salary range is in the area of 120-130K + bonus, stock and benefits.

Details:

The MAIN thing is = iOS

This position is a true ARCHITECT position and will report to the Director of Mobile Applications.

Making the note that this is a true architect position means that candidates should have come up through the development route; not an architect that has never actually coded

             JAVA, custom development will be the main language

             Most of the development is done by “partners” but sometimes, the architect will need to “roll up their sleeves” and pound out some code

Enterprise experience is an absolute MUST; 7 years min.  The client needs someone who is not only technically sound, but is also interested and able to collaborate across multiple organizational lines and drive process, communicate effectively with stake holders, help with strategy, trends, etc.

Long-term Goal of the group? = “Device Independency”

POINTS of Interest:

-              This is a “radical change” in how the co. does things, which they are referring to as the “Consumerization of IT”  The co has embraced consumer technology within the Enterprise and are working toward making the technology more user-friendly and available on a global scale.

-              Provides TEMENDOUS career growth and development as this group is going to be working on the latest, “bleeding” mobile technology; team size currently 4

Maximize your phone interview with these simple tips

Posted on: March 1st, 2011 by jobTopia No Comments

1. Interview in a quiet room with a copy of your resume with you.  Highlight your main accomplishments so you don’t forget to use them.

2. Stand up  and pace the floor during the phone interview.  Do not sit at any point during the call.

3. Be energized.  Raise your voice 15-20% to project a better voice tone through the phone.

4. Ask this question EARLY in the interview “what do you need this ‘insert job title here’ to accomplish for you?”

5. Demonstrate, using detailed examples, how you would accomplish the task you uncovered in question #4.

6. End on a positive note and tell the interviewer “This role is exactly what I am searching for in my next career move. What is the next step?”

7. Send a short email thank you note.

Handling the most popular question  “tell me about yourself”

WRONG ANSWER “I was born in 1972 and went to Jefferson High School.  In the summer I worked in my father’s bakery as a dough boy…

RIGHT ANSWER

1 I am currently a “YOUR CURRENT JOB TITLE”  with experience working within “YOUR INDUSTRIES” (manufacturing, telecommunications or banking etc.) and list a few of your top skills (financial statement preparation, financial analysis, month end close, mergers and acquisitions etc.).

2 Briefly demonstrate an accomplishment you think is related to the job you are interviewing for ( I obtained my CPA within 2 years after graduation and recently reduced the monthly reporting cycle time 2 days through an automation project I completed using Excel and Macros for my department).

3 Then say this “Before I go into more detail, perhaps you could share with me a little more about the position and company so I can concentrate on relevant details about my background”.

This positioning statement has 3 VERY IMPORTANT elements

(1) A brief statement describing you as a professional.

(2) Highlights an accomplishment which makes you stand out from the competition.

(3) Redirects the interview back to the employer so you can determine what the employer needs to accomplish (as discussed in the website articles above).
